Love to visit Japan on the Diamond Princess. What a great ship and staff. Also great itineraries. The ship is well maintained for its age. The crew is friendly and accommodating. There were lots of shopping but no one was pushy. Bars are attractive and well staffed. We especially appreciated Skywalkers lounge and views while leaving each port for a pre-dinner drink. Both the Explorers and Wheelhouse lounges provided entertainment and both are beautiful appointed. Churchill’s is a small bar for smokers and also serves as a sports bar. Crooner’s is a piano bar near the atrium and was busy quite often as a great meeting place. Club Fusion is the largest bar at the very back of the ship, and served as both bar and activities center as well as for dancing classes, etc. We dined in the Pacific Moon main ding room and it was very good. Our waiter, Anthony and his assistant Misato were excellent. Our favorite was Kai Sushi were Sushi chef Tsuyoshi-san, and waiters Nami and John were excellent. They made our cruise! Our cabin, D737 had an exceptionally large balcony that wrapped around to give a ships wake view even though it was not a stern facing cabin. Our room steward Rudi was excellent. The itinerary was excellent and we enjoyed each port on our own. The Japanese people are friendly and helpful. This cruise is a great way to explore Japan and we highly recommend it!
In this cabin there are twin beds that cannot be converted to a queen bed. It does have a loveseat and two TV’s. The bathroom is an accessible type with walk in shower, no tub. It does not have Japanese style toilet. It has a very large balcony with a wake view. We felt it was a little larger than a normal balcony cabin.
Kyoto we’ll worth them trip. Beautiful views.
See an active volcano on Sakurajima!
Visited the Atomic Bomb Museum. Very moving.
