Sail Date: Oct 2019
King bed, bed side tables with drawers and shelves, love seat, coffee table
Tv, console with seven drawers and a shelf, and then a desk with a fridge,
Is that enough storage?.
And a Nesspresso coffee machine!

This was such a unique itinerary that we felt compelled to book as soon as we saw it!

This was a once in a lifetime trip which really informed us about our big, big neighbors to the far south.

The ship was as we expected since we had been on the Viking Star two years ago and were familiar with the layout and amenities. The staff were exceptional in attitude and service, going above and beyond to ensure we were safe, comfortable and happy. We particularly enjoyed the Lectures which gave us a good introduction to Local history, culture and customs. And of course the included and optional tours were a great way to learn even more. The spa, with so many free amenities was greatly appreciated! There was so much to do on the ship, that sea days were Fun, busy and welcome too. Bridge classes, knitting classes, get togethers for painters, tap dancing lessons, writing lessons,,,, the list in the Viking Daily was endless. The food, well, we were very happy with the many restaurant options, and visited all of them. Such exceptional service, variety and always delicious! Free wine with lunch and dinner too! And what a fun experience we all had at the Crossing the Equator Ceremony! Thanks for the certificate and all the laughs that day!

Cabin Review

As you have probably seen, All rooms on Viking Ocean ships have a balcony. This is soooo nice, especially when you are visiting a unique place like the Amazon River! We didn’t want to miss any of it! The Penthouse veranda has a very generous sized bathroom, and there’s lots and lots of storage, I counted 16 drawers! A credenza at the end of the bed, and a desk, love seat, chair, and coffee table... very comfortable!

A dreamy place to spend time.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We had been to SAN Juan with Viking once before, so did not do the tours again. Since the port area is right in old SAN Juan there’s lots of places to visit. There were maps available when walking off the ship.

Santarem

The Santarem National Forest walk was very interesting. Our guide Eduardo was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We also had a native guide, Pano, who carried a machete, and guided us through the forest/jungle. They identified and discussed lots of trees, plants and also the customs of the locals. We saw snakes, birds, all sorts of monkeys, and insects. Very worthwhile tour, well worth the cost. The temperature and the jungle terrain may have discouraged some of the people on the tour, but every one came away agreeing it was a fabulous trip.

Buenos Aires

The Three days post cruise extension we planned worked out pretty good. Buenos Aires is huge, but if you stay down town, it’s very walkable and easy to get around. The various neighborhoods offer a look at local life and lots of coffee shops and small restaurants. Shopping opportunities galore along Calle Florida, and yes, you can still get a real bargain on leather goods, but be prepared for comparative shopping., and paying in Pesos, gets you some good discounts! And no bargaining! It’s insulting to the locals!

Definitely a place worth going back to!
