I tried to ignore all of the negative reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor and focused on the positive reviews and I chose to book this vacation for our family. My 11 year old twins loved this cruise line because of the water park at CocoCay. I chose this itinerary because it include a Perfect Day at CocoCay. The employees on the ship have a very easy time saying NO. No, I cannot have a fancy glass unless I order that specific drink (my $10 drink come in a plastic cup), NO, I cannot pour your wine in the dining room, unless you want me to ask a manager. Please accept their apologies that 1) we had to wait in a warehouse like room for hours because the ship entered the port late due to weather 2) that we verified that you were told on the phone that the water park was included (it is a additional $95 pp - we will give you a $175 excursion credit, after you were on the phone for an hour begging). 3) that we verified that you were told tips will be a total of $74 (charged $300) 4) that the ship had to be rerouted to Nassau because CocoCay had bad weather (this I understand), they returned the $175 excursion credit to the account that we had used for a helium balloon ride experience, they offered a list of new excursions for the Bahamas, none at the cost of $175 or lower. When we asked if there were any discounts that can be applied, the excursion rep said boldly that NO concessions will be made. When we went to guest services they said the excursion prices are higher because we are coming to the shore on short notice, so we should understand that, NO excursions will be priced differently to meet our budget. 5) This is a big one, when we booked with the rep over the phone we were given a $175 onboard credit, different than the excursion credit - this was very confusing to the guest service reps - they are telling us that we spent it, well this is day 1 and we didn't spend it. After hours at the guest service desk over the next several day they finally figured it out... because a couple days after the we booked the cruise, I called to let them know I saw a lower rate, they repriced the cruise and credited our credit card for the $37 price difference... by doing this we lost the promotional $175 onboard credit. Yes, everyone agrees that doesn't make sense. Yes, they did verify that I spoke with a rep 3 days before the cruise to verify that I was checked in and we discussed the tips, and the $175 onboard credit. NO, no way can they give that credit to us because we did save the $37... NO, they cannot change that! Apologies yes, making things right, NO. I really would love to be told one thing and the company to back that up. Super sad. I cried because I didn't want to worry about money while on the cruise. I worked a lot of extra hours to pay for this cruise and just wanted to sit back and relax. I was sad that the kids were not able to go on a different excursion when the balloon ride was cancelled. The ship is old and it shows. There are a lot of paint ships and broken things, gum under the bed frame, stickers on the bed frame, worn carpeting with strings hanging over, super slippery decks with few non stick mats, chipped plates, scratched windows and such. The room was the size of a shoe box, okay a little bigger. I have been on several cruises and this was the worst by far. Normally the staff, overall, makes you feel like royalty, this time I felt like a beggar. On the upside, our servers Amary and Dwayne, were very nice, as was our cabin steward. I got it together, we are on vacation and had a great time anyway. The shows were good. The pool, although small, was clean. NO, don't jump into the 6 foot section, NO don't use those googles. The kids loved the hot tubs and there were 4 of them. My daughter must have done the rock wall 50 times! Charles and the other employee were so nice and gave her many new challenges. My son and I danced to the live band and piano players and my husband and I strolled the deck under the stars. There was plenty of food options available all day, no one went hungry. Sometimes we were thirsty though, the only place to get the free drinks (iced tea, lemonade or water) was on the 11th and 12th floor restaurant areas. We were on the 2nd floor. The kids liked the kids club, looked like they were mostly video gaming so they only went twice. No bill under door on the last night / morning of check out so I have know idea what I will be charged. The line at guest service was so long, everyone was complaining about their bills, someone said they have been waiting for 2 hours in line. From my guest service experience, I'm sure nothing could be done about anything they were disputing, NO. So I chose not to wait in the line, NOPE! I will cruise again, but not with Royal Caribbean, that is for sure.
