We were not really looking for a cruise to celebrate our 4oth Wedding Anniversary but when my wife received an online ad for a 12 day Greek Island cruise for under $2100C we couldn't pass it up.

It was our first cruise so we had no preconceived notion on what to expect. We had input from many experienced cruisers who made us aware of all the intricacies of cruising including the ship, the cabin, the dinning facilities and shore excursions.

Over all , we were very pleased with our first cruise. The staff on celebrity were amazing especially our cabin steward. If i had to give one hint for a perfect cruise, it would be make friends with your cabin steward . They can make your cruise even more enjoyable.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We spent days in Barcelona before the cruise and enjoyed the city very much.We used a two day city run Hop-on Hop-Off pass to explore the city. The last day was a Sunday, so we spent a lovely day with Barcelona families at the zoo, which was quite charming.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

The cruise line paid for a short 5 min coach ride to the Cathedral, which was located high on a hill with many steps to reach it. As my wife has mobility issues with stairs we decided to look for a much easier entrance. After a 45 min walk , even with directions , we did reach the Cathedral. Be prepared for hawkers around the cathedral.

Taormina (Messina)

The cruise port is in the centre of town, You get off your ship and their you are , delivered right into the hands of Sicilian taxi cab drivers , all wanting your business. If you just walk pass them , there is a hop on hop off bus in the church square, only a few minutes away.. If you are a senior , don't forget to ask for the senior rate. The tour of Messiah and the outskirts was interesting. .

Mykonos

The day we arrived in Mykonos there were two other cruise ships. If everyone disembarked, there would have been over 10,000 people on this very small island. So my biggest suggestion is to get a shore ASAP. In doing so we were able to walk the streets and get a feel for the island before the hordes arrived, But that lasted around 15 min,

If you do not have internet access aboard your ship most Mykonos restaurants offer free wifi with your meal.

The cobble stoned streets were a bit of a challenge for my wife. So if you have mobility issues getting a shore early is a blessing.

Rhodes

Rhodos was the our best experience in Greece.

The cruise port is only a 6 min walk to the gates of the old city, Once inside you are in a medieval walled city.with streets are wider and without small cobblestones as in the other greek islands. This makes it much easier for people with mobility issues to maneuver. We found the store owners very helpful and not pushy at all. We did most of out souvenir shopping here.

We wished we had had more time here . We enjoyed the people and the history of this island very much, It is the only greek port we visited that we would go back for a visit.
