As a reasonably well travelled couple around mainland Europe we were looking forward to travelling a little further afield and so chose The Viking Homelands cruise whilst on our second river cruise with them.
From the minute of booking to coming home everything was superbly handled by all the Viking staff we had dealings with.
The Viking Sky herself did not disappoint,I can find nothing about it to complain about. It was furnished exactly to our style being modern and elegant without being 'flashy' or too simple.Even on sea days it did not seem crowded.
We got to meet several like minded fellow passengers who we would bump into again and again as the cruise progressed.Passengers seemed to be mostly from the US but there were also a fair number of Canadians and Australians. We only came across six other Brits.
The main restaurant on deck 2 is the best place we found to meet new people and also The Living Room in The Atrium.(especially around the jig saw puzzle table on level 2.)
All the staff seem very happy to be on the ship,it shows on their faces and they always greet you with a smile and say hello.
Our favourite place on board was the upper level of the Explorers Lounge closely followed by the comfy loungers facing outwards with sea views in the area at the side of the main pool.
The sad faces and fond farewells on disembarkation morning said it all.
No one wanted to leave. We cannot wait to sail again and actually rebooked for next year whilst still on board (Australia and New Zealand)
Many wonderful memories to savour over the coming winter months .
Watching the sun rise and set over the ocean everyday is sadly missed at the moment in my land locked home location.
Thank you Viking for yet another special holiday.
well worth doing if museums are not your thingView All 152 Neva River Cruise Reviews
even the rain could not dampen spirits.
Exceeded expectations.A very welcoming little town with so much more to see than expected.
Got close up and personal with a local Viking by the name of Magnus.
His group put on a display for us in a courtyard plus bites of food and a taste of mead.
Greeted on arrival on the quayside with music and flags and departed with the same.
The sun shone all day which was a bonus after the stormy seas on the Baltic.
Great time spent on the Baltic coast after the ride on the heritage steam train.
A very welcome coffee and cake break courtesy of Viking at the best sea front hotel.View All 8 Bad Doberan Reviews
Shortish escorted tour with free time before returning to the ship for lunch.
We chose to return via the local tourist ferry at our own cost.
It docked directly in front of the Viking Sky and the journey included going out as far as the sea before turning back to berth in the harbour.View All 41 Rostock City Tour Reviews

Hit and miss with guide here.
Perhaps better to take an optional tour here instead of the included one especially if oil exploration does nor interest you.View All 57 The Old Town Reviews
