A lot of friends asked us why we chose a Russian cruise as a destination, as if saying Why go there?
I was apprehensive given all the stereotypical images portrayed in all the media and films over the years while my husband was more familiar with Russian history and had no such concerns. This was also our first cruise so we were prepared to allow the tour to unfold and didn't have a long list of must see destinations. The Tours selected for us were exceptional. There was a lot to see.
On some tours there was a lot of walking which really helped with controlling the extra weight that the copious amounts of delicious food served at every meal might cause.
Excellent room with space to hang everything empty cases went under the bed out of the way the balcony was excellent and we enjoyed sitting out there in the private quiet. The bathroom was well thought out and the shower was spacious. The tap in the hand-basin was a bit big so care needed to be taken when turning on the water as it could splash if not careful.
Cleaning staff were pleasant but unobtrusive and our room was kept spotless and stocked for the duration of the cruise.
The bed was excellent, the airconditioning could be self controlled which was excellent.
