We went for our 50th wedding anniversary so we felt it was worth spending the extra monies. We expected to be impressed with the vacation, we expected too much. Viking advertises no surprises and excursion in every port. We had plenty of surprises and there is NOT an excursion in every port. We spent our anniversary on the plane for 10 hours then the worst bus you can imagine for 4.5 hours to get to the ship. Lunch/Dinner at a gas station. Frayed robes, not enough hangers, boring food, and the room smelled stale and musty. 3 ports which should have been skipped (Crotone Italy, Split Croatia, Sete France). We only had one day in Rome and one day in Barcelona. Viking should have had more time in Rome and Barcelona and skipped the 3 awful ports.

Instead of going on Viking excursion, go with Viator tours. We did that in Rome (because Viking didn't offer any excursions till you got on the boat!) and it was a great decision. Wish we would have done Viator tours for the entire trip instead of the Viking excursions.

Advise: save your money and don't waste your time on Viking. Read more
