The peer is located on the Danube. It is about 30 minutes away from the city center but traffic can be slow at peak hour. Make sure you call the boat to find out what peer they are moored. Sometimes 2 or 3 ships can be moored at the same peer so do not panic as you have to go through another ship before you access yours.

We decided to go fro a walk on our own. The old town along the Danube has some magnificent old buildings.

The old town is very tiny. There isn't much left of it after the communists demolished most of it and built an expressway through it. There are still a few public squares and narrow streets with old houses.

Be aware, you have to pay to access public toilets and the cleaners are ferocious. They want you to pay 50 cents even if you only help an old person going down the stairs to the toilet.

I knew the city so we decided to go for a city tour on our own. Many old building along wide avenues. Lots of museums or places to look at: The old synagogue, the old jewish district, the Danube river banks, Parliament house, Royal castle, etc.

You must stop at Gerbeau for a selection of cakes. It is a must if you like cakes.
