We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, wanted to see the north of iceland and fjords of Norway. This two week cruise from Newcastle was ideal.

We had read of issues with embarkation at Newcastle with past Marella cruises so were prepared. We arrived (having spent the night in Newcastyle) by Taxi at about 12:00 noon and were dropped off as instructed by port officials at the 'red terminal building' with our cases. We waited in a queue for maybe 5 minutes before leaving our cases and recieving an envelope from the staff on duty, ,walked outside to the suttle bus and were taken to the main port terminal. We were then given cruise cards and asked to wait until called. We were priority so did not wait however those with us at that time 12:15 did not wait long before being processed and re-bussed to the ship. Our friends who were self drive and park took ages to get on board, they arrived at the parking at 13:00 and did not get on board until 15:00. So I would suugest arriving earlier to avoid a long wait. Disembarkation was easy.

We had cabin 12031. Really good, modern and clean.

Cabin Review

Cabin junior suite

Cabins on the 12th deck are great. Large balcony with chiars, loungers, tables and a hammock. Good space to eat, drink and have some peace if the weather is good. Bed was comfortable (twins put togerther) if a little firm, lots of drawers, cupboards and shelves, fridge, large TV, sitting area good mirrors, hairdryer and fine bathroom. Shower was good. Would be a rit tight if more than two. Short flight down to food and drinks.

Would take this cabin again.

Port Reviews

Kirkwall

Nice little port. WE had tenders to the town which is a bit of a faf. Town is good for walking around, there are afew shops, cafes and bars togerther with the cathedral and palce ruins. This will take maybe acouple of hours to see. We booked atour with the Highland Park distillery which is walk able from town an easy uphill there 20 minutes. Need to book as tours only allow limited numbers and while we were there some folks were turned away. Book on line.

Isafjord

Nice little place to walk around, Small museum close to the harbour, not much else.

Reykjavik

Been here previously. Good to wander, see the cathedral, have coffee and just look around. Had already 'done' all the tours however for anewby the golden circle or blue lagoon would be good.
