We went on a Backroads biking cruise, and for this purpose a river cruise was great. The AMAWaterways staff was wonderful - interesting, always willing to help, and just generally very competent. I can't say enough - the staff made the trip. It's a small ship, and they did the best with what they have. The music was great, the facilities were spotless, and they had a decent selection of fitness classes which is nice because the exercise room is pretty minimal (2 people max, bike and treadmill). Logistics were great.

The food was very "American" - no local cuisine. That's a shame because the countries traveled on this cruise had fantastic food. That said, it was plentiful and of good quality and fresh, and while a bit on the bland side for my tastes, there were a lot of choices, and the service was great. Having a local option would have been nice.

The wine choices were limited but excellent - better than average for a cruise.

Dear sfsports, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. While we were delighted to hear our staff exceeded your expectations, we were disheartened to hear you...

Cabin Review

Suite with French balcony and outside balcony

Cabin SS

Don't bother with a suite - it's minimally more space and the extra space is primarily a 3 foot closet. All rooms with a real balcony are essentially equal on space and the AA rooms have a long desk which is nice. The balcony is tiny and so was the suite by the standards of other cruises we've been on. We traveled from Germany to Budapest on the Danube and the majority of the time in ports our window/balcony was blocked by another ship - the "even" side would have been much better for this cruise. The shower was too small for my husband and he flooded the bathroom every time he took a shower because his shoulders pushed open the door. The biggest benefit was excellently done free laundry. Compared to other cruise suites, this was by far the poorest value.
