We chose this cruise as we had never been to Vanuatu before and this was the only cruise line which departs Auckland for this destination. We also have done two previous P&O cruises which have been ok. However the standards have dropped with much cheaper food lines. You can definitely see where cut backs have been made to the food which is presented. This was very dissapointing and would possibly prevent us from sailing with P&O in the future. Even in the sit down dining restaurants it was difficult to find something descent to eat. We also thought the ship could do with a good scrub down. The main viewing windows on the ship in the dining areas & restaurants were green from algie and looked disgusting. Surely there must be a way these can be cleaned as they bought the whole ship standard down. The staff were all pretty good though.
Cabin Review
We asked on booking if our room had a public deck outside our window & were told no. I said are you sure as we liked leaving our curtains open didn't want people wandering around outside our window. I was told again there is no deck or public access outside your window. When we arrived at our room we couldn't believe there was a deck with public access & people sitting outside our window. Not a good start.
Next booked WIFI on the boat. Don't waste your time it is near non existant & you are just wasting your money. When I asked what is the issue with WIFI they said oh yea it's satellite so slow. I managed to get some emails but only just before it crashed continuously. Totally pissed.The food is average. We also bought the alcohol package which I wouldn't do again as the wine is a very cheep brand & you can't drink much of it anyway. The staff were generally very good & helpfull.
