We chose the cruise for the itinerary. The embarkation port is close to us so was brilliant at the beginning and end of our holiday. Embarkation was one of the best we have experienced, very smooth and we did not have to wait for our luggage. We chose priority disembarkation, where you take your own luggage off, which again was very easy and suited us.
The ship is good but it was overcrowded. The cabin is very good, but a big step into the bathroom and the window was dirty, spoiling an excellent view. The highlight of the dining experience was dinner which was excellent. Breakfast, lunch and tea were average, with big queues for tea.
The onboard ship's entertainment was outstanding, although visiting acts were poor. There was also a great choice of onboard activities and excellent guest lecturers. Service was excellent and usually with a smile.
Good size room and well laid out. We had plenty of space for our clothes and could store the cases under the beds. There is a big step in and out of the bathroom. The cabin steward was excellent, so the room was always spotlessly clean. We had a good size window above one of the beds but would have been better in the middle.
We went on the Skara Brae and Brodgar excursion which was fascinating as Skara Brae had been on my bucket list. We also had a bit of a tour of the main island, including Scapa Flow. There were very long queues for the tenders on our return, but we toured the port and went to the hotel opposite to drink local whiskeys and an Irish coffee until the queues died down. Great day and the weather was good.
We went on the coastal villages trip for £52 each. Good value for money and we got to see a reasonable amount of Streymor, which is beautiful, helped by the lovely sunny weather. Another great day.
