7 day fly cruise around the Greek Islands with two restful sea days. Perfect itenary for us and although we have sailed many many times with P&O we had never been on Oceana.
Firstly , we were aware of her size and age, so expectations were not high.
However it has to be said the staff are excellent, friendly and provide excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble. The food was also of a very high standard, with an extremely wide choice and very accommodating waiters. The ships function rooms have been upgraded and create a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
Cabins are extremely small compared to other P&O, Cunard and Princess balcony cabins. Not only are they very small - that also includes the balcony , but they are in great need of attention . Air conditioning is extremely loud througout the night , and although you can regulate the temperature you can't turn it of. The bathroom is so small when using the toilet you can touch the door, the shower cubicle is minuscule and shower heads falling apart, drains do not seem to drain away properly and despite the cabin being cleaned extremely well each day, the cabin looks well worn.
Having two days here pre cruise, we took the city sightseeing bus. Be are there are two routes , North & South. You cannot do both in one day they are long trips.
Coach journey about an hour. Boat gets very busy but well worth going.
Took the tender ashore , went independently in the cable car to the top , looked around the town visiting the Cathedral then went to Bus station to get a local bus to Oia 20 minutes away €3 each way . Oil whilst extremely busy is beautiful and well worth the effort. Highlight of our cruise.
Plenty to see and do around the port. Easy walk to the preserved old city along with a nice promenade walk and opportunity for the beaches.
