We booked this on our travel agents recommendation, as we told her that we wanted a 5+ star experience and the best ship/company.
Also, this was our first river cruise. We've done about a dozen ocean cruises on various lines.
Needless to say we were quite disappointed. Overall the staff on board was great. Super friendly, accommodating and tried really hard.
The ship itself is old, dated and really needs a good cleaning and updating. The lounge area was always too hot, and all the hallways and lounge smelled like stinky socks all the time.
Our room was booked in October and was one of the last balconies left at that time. It was the one directly next to the engine room and was SO noisy. We used ear plugs, but still never slept for the entire week.
The Scenic App was always frustrating and didn't work well. The information given about the tours was always lacking (on the ocean cruises you can watch a TV channel that gives descriptions about the tours so you can decide what you want to do).
The food was only okay.
For the huge price we paid, we did not feel good value. And again, not a 5-star experience. Felt more like a generous 3-star in our opinion.
Don't book this cabin. It is directly next to the engine room and you won't sleep the entire time.
