OK, the cost and value are pretty good (World Cruise 2019), but its let down by two key things. Firstly the food. It varies between average to terrible and tends to be stodgy, swimming in gravy or sauce and usually over cooked. (Our table of 6 must have sent well over 30 meals back or not eaten in just 70 days.) Not forgetting that when avocado or anchovy appears on the menu! All you get is something from a tube or powdered anchovy??(Dont try and find it on the plate or in the flavour).

Secondly the service many of the drinks waiters/waitresses are offhand and rude as were the shore crew. The dining staff are very friendly but lack support to help solve problems when they arise (Fusion restaurant being an exception and very good), the cabin staff are a shining light (along with the little contact you may get with engineering type staff.

For the rest the cruise is comfortable with reasonable sized cabins and comfortable beds, not lush, but comfortable.

Port Reviews

Kagoshima

Beautiful town, interesting shops and restaurants. The volcano was active during our visit and worth getting up on side of mountain

Beijing

Just sensational to see an icon like the wall and walk on and in history

Beijing

on the to see list. Just non stop crowds and very rushed unfortunately ( after a 3+ hr bus trip)

Luxor

Thousands of years of history. Overwhelming. And Karnak is huge. Needs two days to do this

Luxor

Good but very busy. Again more time needed after 3hr bus trip.

Jerusalem (Ashdod)

Visiting at Passover made this crazy with no bus parking and tens of thousands of people. Great cultural experience having heard so much about Jerusalem over the years

Malta (Valletta)

Beautiful old town city. Pubs, cafes, restaurants and shopping along with architecture, views and a beautiful harbour

Aqaba (Petra)

An unbelievable place hidden in the hills outside Aquaba. Quite a walk in and out and the pony carts almost run you down but worth the efforts.

Lisbon

Beautiful city, easy walking and catch a trip on Tram #28

Bangkok (Laem Chabang)

Took a day trip on shuttle to Pattaya Beach and avoided Bangkok

Good shopping, branded mens and womens clothes, professional massage for just $AUD15 and great restaurants, beaches and bars

Singapore

We basically walked eveywhere after a short cab ride to Marina Bay Sands. Took a ride up to one of the bars at the top of what is a really iconic hotel with good views over city. The Marina Bay Gardens were sensational and really worth a visit. Raffles is just doing up there old hotel but the Gin Bar is open (And busy) Finished in Clarke Quay area with heaps of restaurants and bars near the river. River sightseeing tour from here as well.

Salalah

Pretty grubby port, right next to concrete plant, with dust and heat. Shuttled out to taxi's- a zoo with expensive haggling. Look around town, the old soukh is just about gone in the name of pretty soulless development - a real shame as Soukh was one of the places with any character. Being fairly strict Muslim country thre were few places to get a drink (None we could find) and the shopping was expensive.

Gibraltar

Walked into town, closed for Bank holiday so took ride up to rock, worth the walf and few pounds with sensational views

Shanghai

Just walked town. Shangai is all tall buildings and huge development, but it is losing any soul. Prices were stupidly expensive and all of the street stalls have been demolished with scyscrapers, Gucci stores and the like.
