The good:
We absolutely loved the overall changes in decor on the Summit.
Truly beautiful.
The redesign of the decor was beautiful. We found that there was plenty of storage, which a lot of people said wasn't the case, so we were pleasantly surprised. We do wish there was storage in the bathroom, which there was NONE. Our butler was very nice and stateroom attendant wonderful when we needed something. I do think we were a little low maintenance for them, and they always seemed worried that we didn't need anything.
There were a few functional elements of the redesign that were a real issue:
* We had room service breakfast on a morning of an early port - no tables to eat it on. We found it so uncomfortable to try to eat on the small seats/luggage benches that we didn't actually eat that morning.
* The worst part was the bathrooms. I am a small, reasonably fit person, and found it nearly impossible to get in and out of the tub/shower combo. The tub is high and narrow so you need to be on tip toes to be high enough it you are short. Also no grab bar to help you in and out or if there was any kind of issue. My MIL literally could NOT get in and out of them. No shelves for bath products either, but putting in the small corner was good enough. They also added a shower curtain which made the whole situations worse.
Fun day with walking, trolley, and lobster rolls at James Hook's.
Bar Harbor was beautiful. We took a chance and rented a car out at the Bar Harbor airport. We booked a taxi in advance to take us out there and back. It was worth it. We did Acadia at our own pace and went for lobsters at Beal's. We stopped in a number of places and drive ourselves around at a leisurely pace.
