My first cruise , so wanted a short "try it out" type holiday.Embarkation, was a nightmare , 31/2 hours of queueing to get on board and very little information as to what to do and where to go next.
The ship itself was ok, though lacked the grandeur of MSCs larger ships, Our cabin, an ocean view fantastica, was very nice , clean and roomy enough for the two of us, well equipped and comfortable.
Dining was shocking with portions in the restaurant tiny and almost always served luke warm to cold. the second sitting at dinner was at 9 pm and the service was slow , so we ended up not leaving the dining room most nights till after 11pm. The buffet wasn't much better with zero organisation it was , to say the least chaotic and very disappointing. We had prebooked gluten free for my partner and whilst this was available, with a dedicated specialist waiter, the selection was very poor and the same every night.
Cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable
Venice is lovely, loads to do and see, use the vaporetto (water bus) 20 pp per day , a great way to get around and see the sights
took the shuttle bus into the town, visit the sea organ and the giant sun dial, lovely back street shopping too
absolutely beautiful and full of history, nice tourist shopping, without a doubt the highlight of the cruise
shuttle bus again into Koper, was ok but nothing special
Again nothing special but think this is a port for excursions , Bologne or Mainello for Ferrari fans
