This was our first River cruise. The Maitre D, Nicolette, on board the Prague to Budapest route was phenomenal. She bent over backwards to review menus daily with me, and my husband who is vegan. Every moment ran smoothly on the ship including embarking/disembarking, tours, and meal schedules. The AMAcerto ship cabins are immaculate. Breakfast and lunch buffet choices are plentiful and fresh daily. Dinner entrees are artfully presented when you order from the menu. On-shore tours allow for all levels of physical ability. There were no glitches or disappointments except for a tour in Vienna in which the guide was not very well-informed about local history. We are experienced travelers who have hiked, driven, and gone by train throughout Europe. However, AMA waterways is perhaps the very best way to experience the Danube because included in the price are amazing tours of gothic churches, castles, Abbeys, medieval villages, and a Vienna concert as well. There is perhaps not enough time to explore a city on your own, hence you may want to stay for more days at the end of your trip in Budapest.
