Cabin: Neptune Deluxe Veranda Suite

We chose this cruise because being HAL Past Guests (Mariners) we received a promotion that we could not let pass, as this cruise was on our bucket list.

This was our 17th cruise overall, our first one being on our honeymoon 47 years ago. We have cruised on Costa Line (honeymoon in 1972 and Mediterranean in 1991); Carnival, Celebrity and HAL.

As seasoned cruisers, we have developed expectations as to our experiences on board. I will be basing this review on whether our expectations were met on this cruise.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Veranda Suite

Cabin SB

We had cabin 5187, a Neptune Suite. The promotion offered an upgrade from a Verandah to a Neptune at a considerably reduced cost. We took the plunge. This was our first time in a suite, and we loved it. You could get spoiled. This cabin has a wrap-around balcony. A dream! I cannot find any disadvantages to the suite itself, the location, or the amenities. We felt like royalty. Free (included) laundry was a plus. The use of the Neptune Lounge with its snacks, great coffee, beautifully appointed with a relaxing ambiance, and with concierge service provided by friendly and personable staff, was a highlight. We met some interesting and friendly people in the Lounge. The Welcome bubbly, fresh flowers and fruits daily, were a welcome luxury. Now, for the accommodations: Two separate areas for closets, his and hers if you will; double sinks in the bathroom; jacuzzi tub and separate (although really tiny) shower; a separate vanity area; an actual living room; a huge desk area. There was so much storage space we did not fill it all. Our only disappointment was that we missed the Welcome Cocktail Reception. We never got an invitation, or perhaps it was taken for granted that we knew. We did not know about it. It happened the day we boarded, before sailing. We can live without a cocktail reception, but it is the principle of the thing. Oh well, this did not spoil our overall experience with the suite though.
