This is the Tropicante at Mahuhual in Costa Maya. Beautiful water.

I chose this cruise because I had a lot of family members going on this cruise. We are from the New Orleans area and traveled with my BIL, SIL, nephew, Husband, Daughter and many cousins. To start, getting to the ship was a nightmare. Everyone had received text messages to get to the port early due to possible traffic problems due to Mardi Gras parades. This meant everyone was trying to get on the ship at the same time instead of the designated boarding times. There was a flood of people waiting for employees to arrive to start the check-in process. Once things started however, embarkation went pretty smooth. We had lunch at the buffet and our balcony room was ready pretty quickly. Our cabin was the perfect size for three adults as my daughter slept on the sofa bed. We did have an odor in the bathroom from the time we walked in our cabin. We mentioned it to our steward but nothing was done about it.

I found the food on the ship to be pretty good. We ate breakfast at the buffet every morning and were never disappointed. We ate at all of the dining rooms, at Cagney's twice and Teppanaki once. I was not all that crazy for the food at the Garden cafe buffet for lunch and we preferred eating at O'Sheehans. Food service was just ok, with dinners taking at a minimum 1 1/2 hours. I didn't find the wait staff in any areas to be very friendly as I have experienced friendly staff on other cruise lines.

I found the entertainment on the ship to be excellent. I especially enjoyed the band at Syd Norman's Pour house and was in there several evenings. We also enjoyed the comedy shows and the Dueling Pianos. I was mesmerized at the Burn the Floor show while I fell asleep during Rock of Ages. (Maybe I was just tired from a busy day) Wasn't particularly thrilled with this one. We did do the Escape room but I don't think anyone escaped on the entire ship. Even though we have done several escape rooms this one was particularly hard. Several family members enjoyed the ropes course and walking the plank. We also played mini-golf and ping pong several times.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

Our cabin was fine for three adults. I didn't find that we were cramped at all. There were no outlets near the bed for my husband's CPAC machine so we were glad we brought an extension cord. Our room steward cleaned out our mini fridge as we requested and always had ice for us. There was an odor in the bathroom from the moment we walked in that did not really go away the whole cruise.
