Cabin: Balcony

We travelled on the Sapphire Princess from Singapore to Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and back to Singapore.

We had a state room with a balcony. The state room was ok (3 star if comparing it to hotels). The ship had supposedly been refurbished so I was expecting more. The fridge didn't really work and was obviously very old. The sink, loo and shower were old and had lost their shine.

The decor in the rest of the ship was much better and I had no complaints. It was very clean throughout.

The woodwork had that dated orange look. The fridge really did not work and was clearly old and tired. The bathroom sink and shower tray were old and had lost their shine. The balcony had been given a blue, plastic floor covering with looked a bit bodged and was uncomfortable on bare feet. The patio doors were heavy and did not slide easily - a problem if you are quite frail. There were no coffee making facilities in the bedroom, but you could order a hot drink to your room - a bit of a pain. The duvet were only wrapped in sheeting and not in a secure duvet cover, which felt unhygenic to me. The duvet easily became exposed if you had a restless night. On the positive, the bed was very comfortable and the room steward was lovely and very accommodating.
