Nieuw Statendam did not disappoint. Well laid out ship, with beautiful art work throughout the ship. The service was excellent and the food is the best we have enjoyed of the three cruise lines we've tried (Norwegian and Celebrity). The included dining venues will keep everyone happy, and the speciality restaurants are worth the extra.

Holland definitely attracts a more mature crowd, but we are a couple in our forties and we really enjoyed the smaller crowds and the more luxurious feel of Holland. If you are more interested in bars and keeping yourself busy all day, you may want to try a different cruise line, but if you truly want to relax, Holland is a great choice.

Like all ships, the excursions organized by the ship are overpriced and too slow for our liking. We went with another couple and they wanted the security of ship sponsored excursions, but they quickly realized these are inefficient and more expensive. If you are willing to do some research, you can find alternatives for less money and that ensure you spend more time enjoying yourself and less time waiting for buses and other passengers.

Cabin Review

Vista Suite with Verandah

Cabin B

The vista suite layout is a definite step up from veranda. Much more room and having the bed near the balacany instead of in the middle of the room makes it feel like a better use of space.

Lots of storage and outlets, including USB ports. Bathroom was a little small, but it had everything we needed and water pressure in the shower was great.
