We went on this cruise because it followed our other cruise on Royal Caribbean, Vision of the Seas, which docked the day before on 26 January in New Orleans. Our thinking was we drove 12 hours, so why not take a second cruise and try out a large ship before going home.
The larger Breakaway had many more options on board, but it was very crowded. With long lines for dinner and the several of the main entertainment events required tickets, which booked quickly and in a couple of cases were unavailable after the first day.The two headliner shows, Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor were great.
One plus was a large casino, which helped with the smoke typically a problem in most shipboard casinos.
The cabin was fine. It had less closet space by half and no drawers, so we had to be creative with storage of our clothes. The room had 2 Murphy beds for a 3rd and 4th passengers that we didn't have, so we had to be careful getting in and out of bed, but we learned a lesson to be sure not to get this type of room in the future unless we are actually traveling with additional folks. However, given the limited storage in the room, I am not sure where clothes for a 3rd person, even a child would go; let alone a 4th person.
It was crowded around the pool and had to go back onto the ship for lunch. There were plenty of lounger on the far end of the beach.
It was a 30-minute each way tender port. After the problems tendering 10-minutes into Grand Cayman, we didn't leave the ship in Belize City.
We just went and sent the day at our favorite little beach club, Carlos -n- Charlie's. It is free for beach chairs and umbrellas. It is a $15 or $16 taxi ride depending on which cruise port you come into. It has great nachos, tacos, and drinks at reasonable prices.
