We are "Elite" CCL cruisers and have cruised on all the Solstice class ships as well as on the Summit; we always book Aqua class cabins. While the ship is spectacular with terrific food, service, and style, the IV cabins are a disaster and, because of them, we won't sail on an Edge class ship ever again. Our concept of a veranda cabin is when we can keep our cabin cool and dry but step out onto our veranda to enjoy our own private deck space in the ambient climate with lounge chairs that have footrests and room to dine al fresco. On the "Edge," as soon as you open the upper/outer glass panel, the climate control system shuts down and the entire cabin immediately becomes, hot, humid, and stuffy. The folding doors inboard of the veranda serve no purpose and only take up space. Even if you don't mind opening up your entire cabin to the outdoors, the veranda is tiny. Tiny table, tiny chairs, and no leg room or footrests. We checked with guest relations and were told that there is nothing we could do to change this. Another downer is that only suite guests have access to the bow of the ship. For the first time, we felt we were treated a second class citizens because of this, One of our great pleasures has been to stand above the bow as the ship entered port; now no longer an option on the Edge unless you book a suite. Also, FWIW, the three production shows were just terrible. The performers worked their hearts out but the all original music/lyrics they had to work with were junk. CCL saves money by not performing copywritten music/lyrics but the shows suffered as a result of this misdirected cost cutting.
