Sail Date: Jan 2019
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

We sailed the Dawn 9 years ago and enjoyed the ship We also loved the southern Caribbean itinerary. Dawn was recently refurbished and looks great for a 17 year old ship. We heard before the trip about some plumbing problems and did meet some people on board that experienced those issues. This is troubling that NCL sells these cabins and does not seem to do much for those affected. We saw a similar problem last year on Caribbean princess. Fortunately, we did not have any issues either sailing, but it does give you pause that both lines sell cabins with a history of plumbing problems and offer no recourse to passengers affected.

We had beverage package and four meal dining package. So along with our platinum perk of two other restaurants we had six dinners in those restaurants. They were all excellent..we used Le Bistro, Cagneys and Moderno twice each and we can’t say enough about the food and service...fabulous!!

The remaining dinners were all at Bamboo the free Asian restaurant. We were familiar with this restaurant from sailing the Star two years ago. It is an excellent venue with great food and service. It is very popular, so make all your reservations early.

Port Reviews

Aruba

Took cab to a Palm beach.we were there 20 years ago and it is more developed but still stunning

Bonaire

Just walked around and shopped. Sent postcards t grandkids, short time in port

Curacao

Went to Mambo beach b cab. It is a man made beach, but has great sand and very calm waters. Rented a couple of chairs for three bucks each and paid a 3 dollar admission as well. Brought my gear and snorkeled out by the breakwater, if you concentrated on the opening that led to open water the snorkeling was pretty good. Also many shops here and many Dutch that were staying at the hotels on beach.

Grenada

Not our favorite island, shopped and rested on ship.

Barbados

See above review about Boatyard....my wife spent over 2 hours in the water while I was snorkeling great beach, don’t let cabbies try to steer you to other spots, we checked out our cabbies recommendation while strolling the beach and it did not measure up

St. Lucia

Pretty island, been there twice, but had negative experience last time, so did rest of our shopping and enjoyed the ship

St. Maarten

Walked over to great bay beach, got some loungers and beer..plenty of choices...lots of swimming and strolling beach

Antigua

Cab to Darkwood Beach...stunning...some recent assaults on cruise passengers in news so be careful
