This was our first time sailing on the Regal Princess. We have been on about 9 other cruises with several cruise lines. We chose this cruise because we wanted a modestly priced trip that included warm weather, beach time, and a new place to visit. The Regal is huge with lots of activities to occupy people but still had places you could get away from the crowd.

We had been to Fort Lauderdale on Dania Beach last year in January and had enjoyed a dinner at The Rustic Inn. Lobster tails, Queen crab clusters, and Hurricanes to drink. Yum! Plus there is a free shuttle from the restaurant that will pick you up and return you after dinner.

Both our embarkation and disembarkation were quick and smooth. This was our first trip using the Ocean Medallion. It was useful to find the location of cabin mates, opening the cabin door, but still has a few challenges to work out. We had up graded to a balcony from an inside cabin. Our room was clean and had a good layout. The bathroom was functional with enough storage for us.

For a small fee, we were upgraded from an inside cabin to a balcony cabin. The room was laid out well and felt roomy. The bathroom had 3 shelves and the shower had shampoo/conditioner combo plus shower gel. We had plenty of storage in the closet with 5 shelves and a safe. The lighting was great. Our bed was comfortable. Our room steward kept our room spotless. He was often available, but never in our way, and had helpful advise.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We ate at The Rustic Inn on Dania Beach. They offer a free shuttle to/from their restaurant. They have a huge menu with a wide variety of seafood offerings. We had the double lobster tails and also the Queen crab which came with 3 clusters per order. Their Hurricane drinks are great. This is a casual restaurant serving many people who are using hammers to open their seafood. So it is a bit on the noisy side, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Our waitress even asked if we wanted our lobster delivered at a separate time from our crab so that it would still be hot. It is a moderately expensive place, but the seafood was cooked perfectly.
