We went on this cruise because it was a 14 day cruise to Antarctica. We have most often cruised with Holland America, but their cruise to Antarctica is 22 days. We had heard that Celebrity is slightly better than Holland america, but we found the opposite to be true.

First the good news: Eclipse is a beautiful ship, very well appointed and maintained. It does miss a promenade deck walk way, but there is a small jogging trail on a higher deck. We had the most beautiful weather on the entire trip to Antarctica, and the talks by Dr. Peter, Mickey and Cecilia were very informative.

The Service on the ship was a bit hit and miss. Most service crew were pleasant, but some of the Caucasian crew members were not as service oriented, and at one occasion argued with another passenger. The incessant selling of drinks was a bit much. The food was generally good, the buffet had an excellent variety, including Mexican and Indian food, but inexplicably there were no fresh berries available during the whole cruise. The dining room was so slow that we only went there for dinner, and once we were served uncooked pork schnitzel.
