Our cruise was focused around the ports of call. We decided that we would use the Fascination as a floating hotel that took us to a different island everyday pretty much. For that we required a good bed, good shower, good food and good service and a reliable ship and crew. We got and more and that’s why the 4 star rating. When you include the port days that we had then we really had a 5 star vacation but the Fascination can’t get points for great weather and fantastic port days.

We had near perfect weather which helped us enjoy our port days and our seaday as well. Private excursions helped us enjoy our days and they were selected to keep us away from crowds of people which was important to us on this particular cruise.

Other than 2 pretty disappointing song and dance shows and an enjoyable juggling show we really can not comment on the entertainment onboard the Fascination. We did enjoy Brittney the Cruise Director on board and we heard the comedy shows and piano singer were very good. We would have danced if the bands played in lounges instead of hallways. In front of the casino is a hallway and the atrium is like a foyer.

Cabin 6B

The bed and shower were good. Being at the front of the ship made for little foot traffic past our cabin. We never heard our neighbors when we were in our room. I would have liked a plug and small bed table by the window side of the bed. There was adequate shelving and closet space. A refridgerator would have been nice but our steward provided us twice a day so we were able to keep our wine on ice.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We went to Linquist Beach by taxi and enjoyed a beautiful quiet beach before taking the ride up to Paradise Point for lovely views and photographs and some souvenir shopping. This was the only day that was cloudy with a little rain.

St. Maarten

We enjoyed visiting with friends who live on the island and swimming at their small beach and pools. Coconut shrimp and a Maho-Mahi BLT at Chesterfield’s for lunch is always a must for us and this day had to include that. We ended the day shopping on front street.
