We had an excellent stateroom attendant, waiter and assistant waiter and the crown & anchor representative was doing his best. But this ship is outdated and should have been sold. The Majesty was slated to be sold but when the Cuba market opened up, Royal Caribbean decided to use it. We had an ocean view stateroom, which was the smallest room that we had ever stayed in. This includes over 25 Royal Caribbean ships, 3 Princess Ships, two Norwegian ships, l Celebrity ship and one Oceana ship. We are diamond plus status with Royal Caribbean and we are supposed to be able to use the Concierge lounge, which is for Diamond Plus, Pinnacle and Suites. The Diamond Lounge is for Diamond level. On this cruise they took over l/2 of the Viking Crown Lounge for Diamond, Diamond Plus, Pinnacle and Suites. The other l/2 of the lounge is open for everybody else. First they have to make sure that only the Diamond, Diamond Plus, Pinnacle and Suites get into their part of the lounge where the free drinks are served between 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm. There was no specialty coffee offered and normally this is one of the benefits of both lounges all day including at morning breakfast. Second, we were sharing waiters with the regular non-upper tier guests. When drinks are paid for unless it is a drink package, which also pays tips, there is an automatic 18% tip added. With the upper tier lounge guests tipping is discretionary. So the drink servers were paying more attention to the non upper tier guests. Also, when there are two many different servers, you do not get to know them. We prefer small lounges with one or two drink servers. On our last cruise we had one server. Instead of giving him small bills every day, we would wait three or four days and give him a larger tip. Once he understood our tipping pattern, he was happy with it and we did not have to use up all our smaller bills. Our room was on the 6th floor. There were three elevator banks, but only one went to the 6th floor. This meant that most of the time we had to go upstairs or downstairs to get to our floor. This was very confusing during the first couple of days of the cruise. There was no cruise critic event. We normally get a table for two but on this cruise we were assigned to a table for six and had to request a table for two from the dining room manager. In order to get data on your shipboard account, you had to request one printed from Guest Services. On the first day during the life jacket drill, they had to manually write down the cabin numbers for guests present. This is normally done electronically. Royal Carribean is engaged in a pattern and practice of removing refrigerators from most of the staterooms. On our November Panama Canal cruise on the Vision, Royal Caribbean removed all of the refrigerators from the first three floors. On this cruise, the only refrigerators provided was for Junior Suites and above. Our ocean view stateroom, had a bunk bed along one side and because the room was so narrow, we had to push the Queen Size bed next to the wall. We had to be very careful not to hit our heads on the bunk bed, which we both periodically did. There was only l chair in the room and the TV was placed at a ridiculous angle on the top corner of the wall on the right side so that you could not view it unless you had two chairs or lay upside down on the bed with pillows. Not that the programming was any good. Most of the stations gave you ads for the cruise line. They also had a ladder in our closet and a table we did not want or need. Our stateroom attendant helped us by removing the ladder and table and gave us an extra chair. She was great. travel junkey
