We went on our first Disney cruise with out 18 month old just a week before Christmas (2018). We reached a day before and stayed in a hotel near the Canaveral port (about and hour from Orlando airport) . Word of advise: get an uber as they charge per person including a toddler under 2 for the shuttle so uber works out better with lesser wait time.

Also you would have to get an uber with child seat due to the laws in Orlando.

The cruise itself was fantastic. We intended to just relax since our child is too young for activities. However with so many food options, meet the Disney chars etc our first and 2nd day were busy but enjoyable as well. Please try and book activities via their app or before to avoid waits.
