WE LOVE THE SHIP. The crew, food, accommodations, technology and design are FABULOUS. The first few days I was missing the old Solstice class but now I find it will be hard to go back to it. We have been truly spoiled. We choose our Celebrity ships based on the itinerary, and we sail mostly Trans-Atlantic. We are not normally Caribbean cruisers but were excited to try the ship as soon as possible and have a Christmas Sail. Here are my findings in great detail:

CABIN: The Infinity Veranda is basically a large window! The “Veranda” is an extension of your cabin and not really outside. It is enclosed on the top and sides as part of your room, so you really don’t get the balcony feel. Not sure it is worth the up charge. If you sleep with the window down there is no way to shut out any light. It has a shade but it needs to be up if your window is open. It is not like a curtain where you can part it sideways a bit and slide the door to get as much fresh air as you like without flooding the room with sunrise. The “balcony” is smaller than other RCL ships and the furniture is too bulky to fit properly in the space. There are glass bi-fold doors to separate the two spaces in the cabin, but they are superfluous as the veranda is too tight and they do not really give any privacy. It is too hot to enjoy as the sun radiates the heat through the glass and you do not get the ocean breeze on your face.

If you love to sit outside on your veranda, enjoy your room service breakfast or ocean breezes; you may want to rethink the new option. If traditional verandas are available, choose those especially if going on a long cruise with many sea days. The Infinite Veranda is also pricey and I hope in time it will drop a bit. Celebrity is getting ready to launch the new APEX next year, which is identical to the EDGE.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

Walked around the port shops as I have been explored the island before. Our adult children took the beach excursion and complained there were not enough seats and it was too crowded.

St. Thomas

We used to live there many years ago so we hired a driver and took the family on our own tour.

Nassau

walked around the town had drinks and then stopped for lunch on the water. It was lots of fun. Have been there many times so did not take an excursion.
