Our family of three decided to book Carnival because of the food quality: we've been a lot more active, eating healthier, and didn't want to stop doing that. We felt it would be easier on Carnival than on some of the higher end cruise lines to not eat rich foods at the big meals since it's not usually quite as good. We also liked the idea of Carnival's younger, more active atmosphere.
This plan worked except for Chef's Table and the Steakhouse. The Chef's Table was one of the best dinners ever!!! If you can get in on this, do it. Wow we were impressed. The chefs and wait staff were tremendous. Each little piece of food is described then tasted - and the tastes go on and on. Wow! The Steakhouse was just ok.
We walked the track on the top deck quite a bit - that worked well. We only got to the gym a few times. We walked several miles in ports. Oddly enough you have to go through the spa and through restrooms there to reach it. We also snorkeled (brought our own gear) in all four ports.
This is a good cabin. With three of us, we really liked having one large bed together for us, but another bed down on the floor for our daughter. None of this blocked accessing the balcony at all. Being closer to the back of the ship was fine too - and it was a very quiet cabin. Plenty of storage space.
One issue was the black tar used on the lines on our balcony - that did come off on our feet. It doesn't go away no matter how much you wash!
