We booked this far in advance in order to see both the sights and the Christmas Markets. Viking did a great job keeping us informed about the low water levels and the workarounds (buses). But even after the “final” ship/bus itinerary was announced, we were fortunate to get enough last-minute rain (8 feel of water added to the river in 48 hours) that the original all-cruise itinerary could be maintained. Kudos to Viking for what had to be a lot of behind-the-scenes logistics!

The three-day pre-cruise addition in Prague was well worth it, and the Art Noveau Palace hotel had a great location (easy walk to the Old City Square), excellent room amenities (more electrical outlets than a typical American hotel), and a fabulous breakfast buffet (including multiple gluten free and vegan offerings).

This being our second Viking river cruise, we expected top notch friendly shipboard service from the crew and first-rate food. We were not disappointed in either of those two respects.

Cabin Review

French Balcony

Cabin D

We have down rated the “cabin” to four-stars, because on two nights we did have a foul smell emanating from the shower drain in our cabin. The crew was fast in coming to our aid, diagnosing the problem, and treating it. They came back the next day just to check without us asking them to. Two thumbs up for the quick and effective response.

Nuremberg

The largest of the Christmas Markets. Wish we had more than just a hour-and-a-half to shop.
