We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit Cuba. All other ports were not as important to us. Empress of the seas is a small enough ship to dock in Havana. In Cienfuegos we tendered in. The ship may be old in years but you could not tell from it’s condition. All common areas looked to be in very good or excellent shape. My cabin had an ocean view on deck 8. The cabin was small and had no other furniture except for a chair in front of a mirror and a small desk. The walls of the cabin had no art work or pictures. There was an excellent flat screen tv. Where the room loses lots of points is the bathroom. It is very tiny. Can hold one person only. Not much space in shower. However, we made do.
Breakfast and lunch are always a buffet. Food is okay. Dinner in the dining room was pretty good. Plenty of choices. Plates at the buffet could have been collected sooner. Service at dinner was excellent but wine brought to the table could have been delivered in a more timely manner.
Entertainment at night was very good to excellent. We really enjoyed every show.
Small area. Very small bathroom. Very firm mattress. No furniture. Excellent TV. The room was okay for the length of our trip.
Took a shore excursion to Trinidad.
Beautiful beaches. No cost lounge chairs. Transportation to many areas provided. Native market area. Small downgrade because you need to bring your own water or pay for it.
