This is a review of 4 who traveled on the Getaway, 2 in a balcony cabin and 2 in a Haven spa suit. We began our trip with a week-long visit throughout Florida before embarking on the Getaway. We stayed in the Miami area at TRYP by Wyndham the night before our cruise. It was about 8 miles to the Miami terminal, new, clean, and overall a good stay. When driving down to the port we used the WAZE app to avoid traffic.
Packing – When we travel or cruise all 4 of us take a carry on suit case and backpack. We carry our luggage on and off the ship thus we have full control over our luggage and it always arrive with us on the ship. That being said, we pack conservatively. I generally choose a color scheme and mix and match outfits. Since we all have status we take advantage of 1 free bag of laundry during the trip.
Embarkation – We arrived at the port around noon, dropped off the luggage curbside, and my DH parked the car. This is our first trip ever to drive our own car and park at the terminal. It cost $22 dollars per day but we read from others it was well worth the money to not worry. As always, we had no problems or wait (we have VIP check-in) and were on the boat in about 15 minutes or less. We have arrived in the past much earlier and had to wait in the terminal lounge area. If you want to participate in VIBE you must be in the early crowd because they only sell 100 slots. We have actually put our names on a waiting list in the past and have gotten into VIBE after others cancelled when they realized it’s not family friendly – over 18 only. We did not purchase VIBE on this trip.
