We had a wonderful cruise made so especially by the activities staff and the Webb Band and overall smiling faces of the staff. We chose this cruise because it was going to islands we had yet to visit. When we cruise, we dance, attend every show in the main theater, and try to take part in as many activity events as we can. So these are most important to us.
The activity staff was wonderful and truly friendly and seemed to enjoy making sure you had a good time. The Gem has two spacious dance areas - The Spinnaker and the Bliss night club. The Webb Band was very good and a nice repertoire of varied music. However, like so many cruise ships, all volumes become too LOUD.
Because the variety entertainers change, I will only comment of the main stage shows. The music tribute to the 70s (also 60s) was very good with a fine selection of well known songs. Blazing Boots was a fun show until they gave the dancers choreography that resembled strip club gyrations. In fact, they now rate the show PG13. Swing was very entertaining, but for my tatstes was about 15 minutes too long.
Well, it was a cabin, but in a nice location 2 floors up to Buffet and pool and three floors to Spinnaker. Located between fwd and midship elevators. With the beds together, there is not space to get around.
