Review for Majesty of the Seas

I would be classified as a Senior (over 75). My wife and I have been on over 18 cruises on many different cruise lines. This was our third cruise on Majesty of the Seas. We have been on a 3 day, 4 day and now a 5 day. I chose this ship to try a JR Suite. Although this ship is older and smaller, it was in excellent shape. I don’t know when it was last refurbished, but it must have been recently for it was very clean and crisp looking. The service was excellent from start to finish. From embarkation to debarkation. My wife and I had came in 3 days early and had stayed at her mothers who lives near FLL. We rented an ALAMO rent a car which has a car return near the port. You can rent at airport and return at pier. We dropped the car the car off and took shuttle to ship and the whole process only took 15 minutes. We checked bags and entered terminal. I was walking with a cane and was immediately offered wheelchair assistance which I was very glad to except. I was wheeled thru the check in process and into the Diamond area to wait. We had arrived at terminal about 1115a. At about 1150a an agent came and got me and wheeled me up to the ship. From the lobby of the ship, My wife and I went up to the windjammer café for lunch. I was glad to see they had changed the buffet line to the food “Kiosks” like they have on the newer ships. It was quick and easy to make your choices and get your food. The selection was extensive and lots of choices from heavy to lite. We went to the cabin when the announcement was made the they were available. The cabin was all made up and set up just the way we had requested. Our baggage arrived about 300p and we had time to unpack before muster. There was more storage space than we needed for a 5day cruise. Plenty of draws and hanger space. I tend to overpack but there was an abundance of space. This was also our first Jr Suite. Our cabin steward RUEL visited us and noted our special instructions which he provided throughout the cruise. The room was clean and he made us some fantastic towel animals. After muster, we went to the Schooner Bar to have our first drink on the cruise. Our waiter was Ganashe. I ordered a mudslide and the rest of the cruise he called me by name when I came in and remembered what I drank. He also gave excellent service. We had late seating in the Main Dinning Room and were joined by another couple. We hit it off and became good friends by end of cruise. Our waiter was Neil and his assistant was Erwin and they gave us excellent service each and every night. The menu was changed every night but some of the favorites were there every night. I had escargot and shrimp cocktail every night. Steak was also on menu each night. Most nights I chose to entrees. I thought the food was very well presented and quite good. Our tablemates and us did not make it to any of the shows in the theater because we had a leisurely dinner including coffee at the end.

We really enjoyed PEDRO in the Schooner Bar each night. My wife is a huge John Denver fan and he could really play and sing just like John Denver and when you closed your eyes you thought John was really there. He also could play classical guitar. He was well worth the price of a cruise.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin J3

First time in Jr Suite. We found it very roomy with tons of storage space. We had the bet configured to Royal King. We loved the shower bath tub, but needed to have step because it is higher off floor and hard for older folks to get in. The room was special because of ROEL our cabin steward, He kept the room clean and well stocked with ice and towels. He was like a ghost. We would be gone for a little bit and like magic the room would be cleaned or turned down.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

In Cozumel take a cab $8.00 to the town square accross from the ferry building and have lunch at Los Palmes. They have excellent food and we like their cevichi.

Costa Maya

When go to a day resort called Maya Chan. It is about 20 minuted from pier and they pay for the taxi. Charge for day is $50.00 and includes lunch and taxi ride plus drinks. We have visited twice and will go back next time we are in Costa Maya. Go online and reserve ahead of time for they fill up fast.

They only book a certain number of guests and the place is not packed.
