Firstly, can I state the obvious, we all want different things from our cruises - so this is just my view of things having now done cruises with Royal Caribbean, P&O, Cunard and Celebrity (we sailed on Constellation prior to this)

We chose Equinox because the reviews for this ship is consistently better than other ships (particularly P&O). Having now travelled on her I would summarise my thoughts as follows:

Food - Main Dining Room (which used almost exclusively for every meal). A high standard but no better or worse than any other cruise line we have been on. We only used the "canteen" a couple of times but rated it the best we had been to. Food was generally hot, great choice and it didn't feel caotic.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1B

Cabin was fine. The net curtains had a hole in them but otherwise in good condition. The balcony glass was always dirty and never cleaned. To be fair, if they did clean it, it would probably get more spray from the sea the next day!

Port Reviews

Nassau

Walked to the Queens steps and the fort. Only took an hour or so. Returned to the ship for lunch and then ferry to Paradise Island to play in the large, powerful waves.

St. Thomas

Took a taxi to Coki beach as research had indicated that it had good snorkelling. There were plenty of fish to see just off the beach (encouraged by people feeding them dog buscuits!). The iguanas are also very entertaining (walking under your sunbed)

St. Maarten

Shared a taxi to Mahoe beach to see the planes. Fantastic! The beach is very small though and crowded with so many ships in dock - but still - fantastic.

San Juan

Didn't get to port until 4pm so left little time for siteseeing as dusk by 5:30. Went to the fort and Citadel. Both were within easy walking distance. Also took a drink in the main square near the port which was very reasonably priced
