We are platinum members of Carnival and always love our Carnival cruises. We were told to try Princess so we did this on the Emerald for a 5 day cruise. We got on ship with no problem and straight to our room. We usually get a balcony room, but as it was a short cruise decided to save a bit of money and get inside room. The room was clean, bed super comfortable and our steward kept it clean. We liked the ship very much, found it to be clean. The food in buffet was good, no complaints. We loved the lox every morning along with the excellent servers! The staff was very accessible and always offered their services. Lunch was basic. Dinners were great! Choices were fine, I am a sweet freak so I really enjoyed the desserts. I did miss a lobster dinner and refuse to pay money for a specialty restaurant. I feel all food should be special. Pool area was great, especially enjoyed the big screen and watching Sunday football.

I was not impressed with cruise director and entertainment staff. Very little energy. I am used to carnival and party ship. Emerald did not have that same feel. But, I did enjoy Pinnacle the live band. They were great!

Overall we really enjoyed our experience on the Emerald. We will return to Princess. Our choice between princess and carnival will be price.
