Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Nov 2018
  • Destination: the Panama Canal & Central America

--you must be cool and comfortable at all times (you will get hot and sweaty on excursions, and you must stay hydrated in the tropical heat);

--you don't want to get your feet wet (you need to wade to shore for the hikes);

--you don't want to see amazing plant, animal, bird, and insect life up close and personal with narration by skilled and informed naturalists;

--you don't want to be offered delicious food and drink three times a day with you own personal mixologist on call in between;--

--you need more evening entertainment than interesting lectures followed by board and card games.

--you don't want to take advantage of the professional massage offered to every guest.

MARVELOUS. We just love the UnCruise line with their excellent staff and attention to detail. Our room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Good air conditioning in rooms and common areas inside. All staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help everyone with any little problem that arose.

There was a doctor on board for this itinerary. There are a lot of stairs between decks and some of the hikes are not suitable for those with knee and hip problems. They do provide hiking poles. Some days were pretty wavy, so lots of lurching around hanging onto the ship railings (you get used to it...)

On this trip (Costa Rica and Panama) you will NOT have internet, TV, or cell service, so be prepared to entertain yourselves (you will sleep well after the day's activities, which start early and include hiking, boat tours, kayaking, paddle boards, snorkeling, etc). Staff are very attuned to safety at all times, which allows guests to relax and enjoy their "wild" activities. Itinerary details may change as captain and crew study the tides, weather, and animal trends.

On a small ship like this (we had 45 passengers) you quickly make new friends with similar interests. Our trip hosted a professional nature photographer who gave classes, so lots of photo sharing!

Capping the trip with a night passage of the Panama Canal in a small ship (next to the Panamax vessels) was just fascinating and well worth it.

Cabin Review

Cabin Jr Commodore Suite 204

We upgraded to get a little more room and a regular sized bathroom with a nice shower. Very comfortable, with a little sitting area.
