We booked this particular cruise based on its inclusion of Tasmania and that it was on the newest ship in the fleet. Surprisingly, the food was consistently mediocre and the staff was inconsistently friendly - both of which surprised us compared to past Princess cruises. Worst of all, however, was the surprise at check in, in Auckland, where Princess demanded proof of Australian visas. The visa process states that no further proof is required once obtained. Without proof, we were told we would be removed from the ship prior to sailing. We learned that about half of the passenger manifest was unable to immediately produce proof of visas. We did finally locate the needed proof in our emails. But to have traveled 30 hours to face possible forfeiture of the cruise was not a good way to start things off. Certainly, Princess could have been more clear about this requirement well before the trip started. We did contact Princess after the trip about this issue, but have not heard back. Internet access and performance was poor compared to other cruise lines. Otherwise, the entertainment was excellent, the ship is beautiful, the scenery outstanding, and the land tours mostly top notch.
Shower overflowed into entire bathroom for the first three days. Surprising level of visible wear on furniture for a new ship. Larger closet very nice. Expected true queen, but had large crevice between twins. Great steward.
Spent an entire day walking the city. The war museum is exceptional.
