We chose the Rhine & Moselle Fairytales Cruise. It was our first river cruising experience. Due to extremely low water levels because of draught conditions in much of Europe since spring, our planned itinerary had to be changed after our first day destination in Cologne, Germany. We all were all initially very disappointed, but we soon realized that we were extremely fortunate to have chosen AMA Waterways and to have our Captain, Cruise Director Elia, and our entire crew on the AMA Prima. Within the first 24 hours after announcing that our planned itinerary was no longer possible, they informed us that they would be able to keep us cruising for the entire 11 day cruise, albeit on an entirely different itinerary. We would now be cruising various sights in The Netherlands and Belgium. In addition, they informed us that if we opted to continue on the Netherlands/Belgium Cruise, all of our money for this cruise would be credited to use on any other AMA cruise of our choice in the next 3 years. As a result, we had a wonderful 11 day cruise to beautiful locations such as Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Arnhem, Delft, Edam, The Hague, Amsterdam, & Dusseldorf, among several others. "On the fly", AMA and our crew set up terrific ports, tours, and sites to visit. Behind the scenes, they took on fresh local food and water and you would never know that this wasn't our original itinerary. We all came to call it the "Mystery Cruise", as early on, we didn't know what our eventual destinations would be. We had a terrific time, met some fantastic new friends and the food, accommodations and crew were truly outstanding. Best of all, is that we can now look forward to returning for another cruise of our choice completely for free! The crew "bent over backwards" to accommodate our every desire. No water, wine or beer was ever left "untopped" for more than a few seconds! The crew was incredibly kind and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable and fun as conceivably possible. All the tours were excellent with knowledgeable guides, on time and comfortable transportation. There literally were no negatives we can voice. We continued on to the Zurich/Lucerne extension with AMA and had an equally fantastic time, with great accommodations, tours and seamless transportation and scheduling. We can't express how pleased we were with the AMA experience and would whole-heartedly recommend it to others.

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French balcony and outside balcony

Cabin AA+

Bed was very comfortable. Obviously, cabins are relatively small, as are showers, but extremely clean and attractive. We had a outside balcony, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom with 2 sinks, a tub and separate shower. Housekeeping was unobtrusive, and excellent. Our room was always clean, turned over and the bed was turned down each night.
