We chose this cruise to the Canary Islands in November in order to enjoy the last of the sun without flying. We thought the amenities and entertainments on this great ship were outstandingly good. Our accommodation was also excellent, but so it should have been in the most expensive category.

We found the best food in the no-frills Lido buffet although the service and ambience of the Queen's Grill made an enjoyable and upscale dining experience. There are two alternative restaurants available at a supplement of 20 or 25 dollars per person. We tried them both and enjoyed the change of scene and the somewhat better cuisine.

I gave this ship only four stars because of the evidence here and there of crude cost-cutting at the expense of the passengers' experience. Cocktails were served in miserable pours and were vastly overpriced, fourteen dollars for a glass of ice with what looked like half a pub measure of spirit. The company would make more profit if it offered better value for money in this area. Wine was also pricey for what it was. The excursions were also expensive for what they were.
