This was a seven-day Northern Europe Cruise booked via Mail Travel who turned out to actually be Jet Line Cruise for this cruise, and it was £700 each for 7 days, included the Classic Drinks Package and free parking at Southampton. Itinerary was Le Havre, Zeebrugge, Amsterdam (overnight), Hamburg and back to Southampton.
Jet Line were very efficient with their administration.
Cabin was a balcony, aft – clearly ship is geared for 7 days cruises as just enough wardrobe space and some drawers, but not over-capacity. Cabin was smaller than for a Cunard or P&O equivalent, but more than adequate with tea/coffee making facilities.
Balcony – two could sit on it, but not recline.
Embarkation was a breeze, except they do try to flog add-ons once you get onboard as you have to follow a pre-determined route past mini-sales stalls before escaping to your cabin.
Luggage arrived shortly afterwards – no problems.
Lunch and dinner buffet – decent choice including Mediterranean, Speciality of the Day, Ethnic, Pizza, Carvery, Hamburgers and Salad Corner and more, and we never had a problem getting a table if one was prepared to move away from the vicinity of the food dispensing areas.
We only used the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast included traditional English with decent sausages and bacon.
Dinner in ‘served’ restaurant – more sort of Holiday-Inn style – just 3 courses and no coffee – they wanted to turn around guests ASAP.
The drinks package included wine, speciality coffees/teas/soft drinks, beer, cocktails, mocktails & bottled water.
Everyone on our table for 6, although only us and another couple actually ever turned up for the 6pm sitting, were on the drinks package. You could of course take the half empty bottle of water away with you from dinner and the wine classes were just kept filled!
Food in ‘served’ restaurant was decent and a reasonable choice – much much better than in 2014 when we did the same cruise on the same ship. No wine waiters – the normal staff did it all. The comprehensive menu clearly rotated through seven days - in other words if you stayed onboard for more than a week, then Day 8 would be the same as Day 1.
Service was always with a smile and generally quick.
Entertainment?
Shows in the theatre were ‘multi-cultural’ as there were passengers from all over the world onboard. Unfortunately, they were always introduced in 6
This is aft. When the ship was docking the side thrusters are working overtime beneath it. This is the ONLY time you experience any vibration and actually ensured we were up and ready to go ashore 90 mins later! It was no problem for us.
