We chose the Vista because she was new to Galveston and we were ship hopping to the Liberty of the Seas the following week. The cruise director, Chris Williams, was amazing and truly kept the week very upbeat, entertaining, and full of activities to enjoy. He is the up and coming John Heald! We noticed that Carnival has improved their dinner menus, but were surprised at how many cruisers did not eat in the dining room in the evening. Having to check in for Your Time Dining and then head to the assigned floor might have been too much for some people. Our team, Mario and Miki, were amazing! The interior cabin was much smaller than before with only one section of closet space, 3 small drawers, 4 shelves in the closet, and small shelf area by the mini fridge that we used to stow our shoes. We had the best room steward ever, Daniel. It’s really all about being respectful to each other! One highlight of our trip was the Miltary Appreciation event hosted by the cruise director. Meeting World War II vets and getting to express gratitude to the Vietnam vets is always a blessing. Kudos to Carnival for including that each week. Safety seems a top priority for the outside deck areas. Being early morning walkers, there was always someone clearing the water from the deck area to prevent slips and falls. The only negative comment has to do with debarkation and the smoky casino. We were assigned a location to head to, but had to cross the flow of traffic to get there, which made it seem like we were cutting lines. The casino smelled so bad that it made it hard to stay in there very long. Carnival should chat with Royal Caribbean about their ventilation system in the casino. Yes, we would definitely sail the Vista again and enjoy the slides, pools, hot tubs, etc..........
