Carnival Horizon is a brand new ship and is a very pleasant surprise, in that it seems to be a upgrade from the ordinary. We did the 8 day Exotic Southern cruise which was the 2nd time on this itinerary.Because of this we did not get off in, La Romina Which was a great time to go and explore this beautiful ship. However we did go a shore in the other 3 ports Grand Turks not much to do and see, we have been here before so just a trip around the port area HIGH PRICES. CURACAO when you arrive and you are in a wheel chair don,t except to much we asked and was told we only have 1 lift bus and did not bring it we didn't think we needed it, they said talk to the taxi people well we tried but they blew us off, so we set out to explore on our own, did the shops and sight see in downtown area NICE. Aruba same thing with the wheelchair walked up to a cab operator and he said nice private tour about 2.5 hours 45.00 a person to some might not be a lot but to us to expensive, so we just went out on our own again. The islands are beautiful but the prices are pretty pricey.

Now onto the The Horizon, Carnival is really making it handicap accessible,The Liquid Lounge main show room they have certain spaces set aside BUT arrive early as that they fill up fast The Limelight Lounge where comedy shows are is the same and if you are in a wheelchair you can skip the line and go to 2nd entrance just let the Carnival host know they will accommodate you or your spouse. The dining rooms and passage ways seem to be wider and easy to navigate> The crew on this ship is top notch and i would like to congratulate them on a job well done!!! We never had a problem with anyone and Mike the C.D. is a real professional and does his best to get everyone into a party mood. The food is typical Carnival food and after 15 ships i have had better and i have had worse the Lido area is a nice set up but more handicap seating PLEASE. With so many lunch choices we only ate there once then we tried the no charge lunch at the various places and the Italian was the best if you go for dinner there is a charge. The main dining room food was good 1st night it was, cold but did get better as we went along. We did The 555 steak house well worth the extra charge. The drinks are very pricey almost 14 dollars a round, we don't drink much but when we did OUCH. The entertainment top notch the Vegas style shows great the singers in Ocean Plaza THE BEST the Comics the worse I've seen in 15 cruise the R rated show was nothing short of being bullied Carnival please rethink.

The CONS The ELEVATORS are the worse they are suppose to be smart so you tap the touch screen for how many people are waiting and it is suppose to send a car that could accommodate i would say 85 % of the time they show up full. That is when the rudeness of those inside went to 100% Carnival please rethink this system. In the past it seemed like we didn't notice the prices to much but now we cruise and we have to do it on a budget and it seems like the prices are going through he roof. In the past we would purchase pictures and trinkets this trip only a couple but i guess we have enough. If you or your spouse is handicap don't let that stop you this ship is a real nice treat and the handicap bathrooms are plentiful as long as you find one without the KIDS playing in it. In closing Carnival is still a great vacation for the money there are subtle changes and cut backs but all in all it is still the best bargain out there and we will cruise again SOON .

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

This is a handicap Balcony (fully accessible) KUDOS to Carnival for moving these from the front to mid ship on Deck 7 very easy to maneuver around the cabin and with the the balcony door the design is very easy to roll out onto the balcony and enjoy the sight,s the door slides back and a little lip folds down to make easy transition from inside to out there is a You Tube video for this cabin as well like i said great design and smooth ride

Port Reviews

Miami

Traveled to airport to pickup rental chair coach bus had a lift very easy to use just ask at shore excursion desk

Grand Turk

very pricey

Curacao

Tried but was told only 1 bus had a lift and they didn't bring it downton is pretty run down a lot of empty shops

Aruba

Tried to but at 45.00 dollars per person pretty pricey no handicap lift buses around or at the pier so we walked around the port area can be difficult with a wheelchair tight spots and some stores are a step up
