We love to cruise, but we are getting weary of the giant cruise ships. It takes forever to get from one space on the ship to another and there are crowds everywhere. We have read the great reviews of Vikings new ocean ships and had a wonderful Viking river cruise a few years back. Once we had picked Viking we looked at itineraries that would take us someplace new. That's how we ended up on this trip form Bangkok to Hong Kong. What a great decision!

This itinerary was new to Viking as well and there were a few rough spots, including the boarding process in Bangkok. They were all minor in the whole picture. The ship is beautiful and never crowed. The size allows you to quickly pop down to your room if you need a sweater and you're back in a jiff. Service was nothing short of amazing. Some areas of the ship were overly air-conditioned.

We were happy we added a couple pre-trip days in Bangkok to recover from the jet lag. Our tour guide helped us arrange an in-Hotel massage that made me wish we had a couple more days. The stops in Cambodia, Vietnam and China were all fascinating and well run.
