I am active, active, active onboard transAtlantic cruises and NCL keeps me busy with dance classes, cardio, origami, trivia games, mystery games, lectures, speakers, movies, NFL football games shown on the big screens (YIPPEE!!), audience participation events, the reading room's daily puzzles, art classes, the 24 hour freestyle food buffet, the rock climbing wall, the ropes course, bowling, the golf course, ping pong, basketball, the walking track, the gym. So much to do, I get worn OUT!! I do everything and wear myself out. And in doing all the activities, I accomplish my cruising goal of meeting folks from all over.

The customer service desk and box office staff are always so helpful and friendly to me on NCL ships, I can't even begin to describe how they follow up on every little detail if I need them or make a call. One example is Renata printing out the NFL complete satellite TV schedule and having it sent to my room, knowing I love football.

I have cruised NCL forever and have been a platinum member forever now and get all kinds of special gifts onboard.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin IX

At the time I booked, the price for an inside cabin for one person was less times two, than my normal studio that I would regularly book. I loved having a fridge in the cabin, studios do not have them, I wore this fridge out, I emptied all the alcohol out of there as I don't drink, put it away and used the fridge for storing a sandwich or leftover juice from my room service

breakfasts or fruit from the buffet. Sometimes I just didn't want to walk to eat and it was right there in the room, something I created from the buffet and brought back to have at a later time.

Room steward, Albert from the Philippines was phenomenal. He could spot me way, way down the hallway and he'd be waving away at me and we'd laugh, I'd wave. His wife and three children back in the Philippines were beautiful to see in his pictures. We talked a lot, he works very hard for his family and I appreciated him very much.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

I love Denmark and after 3 times of being here, the first time, I looked into getting dual citizenship. It involves living in Denmark for 7 years before you can fill out the paperwork. I assessed this and decided against it, being the age that I am. I love the Baltic people and their compassion for each other, living and paying the taxes there are routine for them and having zero stress from what they get from these taxes; free healthcare, free education, free care for the elderly. I spent time with the police, the firefighters, the hot dog booth lady, talked with folks on the street, the juice sales guy, the grocery store people, talking with everyone. Denmark is virtually a very happy country and it is always a supreme pleasure to be there.

Whenever I cruise out of Copenhagen, I go a day early and stay with a friend I've made there and spend 5 to 10 days in and around Denmark, I love it so much. I am already excited to be going back in the fall of 2019.

Cobh (Cork)

Train for 5 euros each way into Cork was almost right smack dab where you get off the ship. Have ready change, buy your ticket in the machine there for the train, follow the simple instructions to buy the RT ticket. Things go faster when you preplan and get your money for your countries in the states from your bank before you leave. Then you can just buy and go. When the train stops in Cork, walk outside of the station, go across the crosswalk, you will see a sign that says the Hop On bus stops there, wait at this sign for the bus, if you show your ship card, you will get a discount of 2 euro for your hop on tour. Do this. Take the hop on tours anywhere in Ireland, this is my second one, first one

was in Dublin on another cruise. The Irish bus drivers are hilarious, speak their mind, talk loud and are more fun loving than anyone you'll ever meet. Engage them, you won't regret it.

Great hop on tour, I think it cost me 12 euros, paid cash. I found a place selling potatoes and got a big container of them and went and sat in a park and just savored the GREAT, you can't go wrong, tasty Irish potatoes. When in Ireland, eat potatoes. Best tasting ever.

Train back to the ship, no problemo. Free bathrooms at the train station. Go there when you get off the train, go there when you get back. Bathrooms in Europe always charge you and they are sometimes few and far between. Train station ones are right there and are free.

After being in the center of Cork, I got off at the train station and walked around Cobh for the rest of the afternoon, saw the Titanic exhibit, walked around the harbor, shopped in a unique candy store, photographed oddities in the town and in the shops. Loads of shops there, you don't even need to go into Cork if you don't want to, Cobh is within walking distance of the ship and there's enough to do there, walking around.

Ponta Delgada

Temp already getting too hot for me, I am a cold weather person so for me, Ponta Delgada was hot for me. I walked to the public library from the ship and caught up on all my email there. I took the little train around the town for 7.5 euros just to cool off. I found some gelato ice cream, to cool off. Be prepared if you go back to the ship with 1 to 2 hours to spare, there will be an ungodly line to wait in. To avoid the line, scrape in at D-Day or go back earlier. If you're not a line person. Some man in line just flat out BLEW UP about the line. I'm thinking he didn't know himself and had no clue that he wasn't a line person. Lesson learned for that guy.

New York (Manhattan)

Waited for over an hour for the bus to LGA, I was properly dressed, I am from New England so I dress for the weather. Other folks were either not prepared for the cold weather and the wait or they were just idiots who are addicted to complaining but in any case, these complainers get on my last nerve. What a FUN way to end a very enjoyable cruise, to have to stand in line and listen to them. I thought the NCL dock workers did the best they could with what they had dealt to them, good job, folks!!
