This was our third cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines, and will be our last. We booked the cruise especially because of the itinerary: Copenhagen, Warnemunder, Tallin, St Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. On boarding we were told the first port was cancelled and we would be sailing to Tallin. The ship then remained moored in Stockholm and sailed a day late. Arriving at Tallin, we took our excursion and on getting back to the ship were then told we had to stay in port as the lock gates at St Petersburg were closed because of high tides. We sailed from Tallin 24 hours later. Arriving at St Petersburg a day late meant our excursions were out of sync, and we had to book a much more expensive Norwegian excursion to enable us to see everything we wanted. On leaving St Petersburg the next evening we were then told the ship was sailing directly to Copenhagen, missing Helsinki and Stockholm completely. At this point the passengers we spoke to were as angry and disappointed as we were. The ship itself was geared towards gambling, and the theatre was tiny compared to other smaller ships. We paid for Cirque Soleil, but were crammed in tightly it was difficult to move in comfort. Of the three “free” restaurants, all had the same menu, so choosing one was a no brainier. We booked for the itinerary, but missing three ports out of five was a great disappointment, and we have not yet had an apology from NCL. There is no observation lounge on Breakaway, so if the weather was inclement the only place to go to watch the world go by was the Garden cafe. Several times in restaurants we had dirty glasses, and service was slow most of the time.
