Our cruise on the Majestic Princess's inaugural cruise from Australia to locations with which we were well familiar in the South Pacific, complemented cruises on the Golden Princess in February and another planned for November, 2018.

All our expectations on board the Majestic Princess were met and our cruise enjoyment was aided by the allocation to us of Stateroom M105 on Deck 15 which I suspect would be one of the best on the ship, with a very large balcony of some 4m x 5m, directly above the Ship's Bridge and looking forward over its bow. The Stateroom configuration is unique to that location and was very much to our liking and comfort, affording full use of the balcony with total privacy at all times, including during sea days. It was particularly interesting that at sea with the balcony door fully open, the curtains hardly moved, no doubt due to the forward profile of the ship.

Our total experiences were positive with "seamless" embarkation, tendering and disembarkation operations providing minimal "down time", with virtually "walk on, walk off" experiences throughout all phases of port visits.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MF

Absolutely brilliant, more square than elongated with a lot of room. Operating the TV units was challenging at times because of the Stateroom configuration - turn one TV on and the signal might turn the other off if it were on, or vice versa. Similarly you had to be cautious when changing channels, for the same reason. The forward facing balcony directly atop the ship's Bridge and overlooking the bow was a major asset and, although not as large as the adjoining balcony which extended atop the Bridge overhang, was significantly larger than most balconies on the ship. I would seek to secure this Stateroom again were the opportunity to arise.

Port Reviews

Suva

We like to look around Suva and shop. On this occasion we had lunch in a multi storey modern building within the CBD and will return to that location for a meal when next in Suva - was one of the best meal stops ashore we had experienced.

Lautoka

Rather than take the recommended trip to Nadi, we instead took a taxi from the wharf into Lautoka for $5 each, and spent the day shopping, returning via the Shuttle Bus. The CBD is within easy walking distance of the wharf and Lautoka offers a wide range of shopping experiences.

Mystery Island

Mystery Island is a great spot to snorkel and swim. On the occasion of our visit this time there was a strong current which hampered experiences such as we had previously. The visit is always enjoyable regardless and offers a break from sea days.
